Annual Conference 2025 Call for Papers

About the Conference

The Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University is hosting the 35th annual conference of the International Trade and Finance Association (ITFA) Conference, which gathers scholars, researchers, and practitioners in the fields of economics, finance, business, and international relations. The conference serves as a forum to explore the latest advancements in international trade and finance across various research areas.

We invite submissions that explore a wide range of research areas on the theme “Navigating the New Global Economy: States, Markets, and Businesses Amid Geopolitical Disruption” and that address the complex and evolving landscape of international trade and finance. Accepted papers can elect to be assigned a discussant.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

·       International Capital Flows and Finance

·       International Relations and Economic Interdependence

·       Exchange Rates and Financial Markets

·       Trade and Sustainability

·       Global Financial Landscape and Institutions

·       Digital Economy and Cross-Border Transactions

·       Resilience in the Face of Global Shocks

·       Artificial intelligence, productivity and exporters

·       Geopolitical disruptions and trade costs

 

Fairfield University is located in the coastal town Fairfield, Connecticut, just one hour from New York City and 2 ½ hours from Boston. It is easily accessed by train from both New York and Boston and has the largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the nation.

 

Workshops and Special Events

The conference includes a keynote speech, paper sessions, and the option of discussants as well as:

·     PhD Student Workshop: A workshop tailored for Ph.D. students, providing feedback on research and valuable insights and guidance on publishing and career paths.

·     ITFA Fellows Induction Ceremony: Join us in celebrating the induction of new ITFA Fellows in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the field.

·     Conference Dinner: All conference attendees are invited to attend the conference dinner.

·     Conference Excursion: All conference attendees are invited to attend a cultural excursion to complement the academic experience of the conference while building networking opportunities for participating scholars.

·     Submission Deadline: February 16, 2025

 

·     Notification of Acceptance: March 1, 2024

 

·     Registration Deadline: April 20, 2025

 

·     Conference Date: May 27-29, 2025

  3. Acceptance decisions by late March
Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract of original theoretical or empirical research. Abstracts should have a maximum of 1000 words, including references. Submissions should adhere to academic rigor and convey information about the context and literature, the research contribution, the methodology, and the findings, and the references should follow APA or Chicago style guidelines. Abstracts will be peer reviewed by a committee.

Students (in person) – $150

Virtual attendance & presentation: $400

Fees Include: One-year ITFA Membership, subscription to the Global Economy Journal, access to Mondo Data Science Platform, networking events, reception, lunches, and a gala dinner. There will be a special workshop for graduate students where they can receive feedback on their papers.
